Chevrolet Cruze Engine & Electronics Diagnostics
The Chevrolet Cruze was introduced to the North American market in July 2010 as a 2011 model replacing the Chevrolet Cobalt. The Cruze was offered with 2 engine options, a normally aspirated 1.8 Litre or a turbocharged 1.4 Litre 4 cylinder. Starting in early 2013 the Cruze became the first GM passenger car in the US in 28 years to be equipped with a diesel engine. The optional 2.o Litre Multijet diesel engine produces 148 HP and 258 lb/ft of torque. In this class we will look at the engine control systems for the three engines. These engines have some common features but also have some of their own unique features. For example all 3 engines use a cast iron block and aluminum cylinder heads. They all use a variable displacement oil pump. But two of the engines use a turbo charger and 2 of them use variable valve timing while only one uses a two stage variable displacement oil pump. We will look at the different controls for each of these engines as well as some electrical systems on the vehicle.
